Once alone then part of a clan
He learned to speak, he carved the wheel,
Left the cave, built home, found the feel
Then language bloomed words came by
Stone to scroll thoughts go high
A clever man then wrote God down
Said “Give your mind, kneel, bow, drown”
Man heard mind, felt brain
Made no word, thought it sane
When man asked man a question true
He pointed to a book, said, “find answers due”
When man begged for mercy, soft and bare
Man hastily flipped pages, searching there
Man then tried to simply live, said, "I am, me!"
But the book screamed "That's blasphemy!"
Awake or asleep, eating or praying,
The book kept watch, no room for straying
Can man ever get that brain back again?
Will man ever feel, another man's pain?
